Sunshine Women’s Group

This project started life fifteen years ago as a grass-roots market gardening project for vulnerable women living in extreme poverty. Most of the members had struggled with issues like domestic violence and alcoholism in the family, leaving them unable to provide for their children.

Through the Sunshine Women’s Group they have come together to find community income generation schemes, at the same time as getting emotional and social support from each other. The Sunshine Women’s group has since expanded its activities to include small-scale farming, home economics, micro-credit and cottage industries with all the profits going to the women themselves.
